Stretching baby

Well today was a great day, we are 17 weeks! I can't believe that next week we will be 5 months. Also today, Bean was making my belly hurt some. I was having a lot of pain from stretching, especially on my right side. Every time I've had an ultrasound, Bean has been on my right side, so I think that is it's favorite. Bean should be about 5 inches long now which still seems so small to me. Many of the teachers at work keep asking when I'm going to start showing, and I feel like I am! It is weird how I feel big, but when other people see me they think I'm still small. We get to see my parents the first weekend in March, and I'm excited that my family gets to see me. I haven't seen my parents since Christmas, so I figure they will think I've grown. I'm also excited that in 2 1/2 weeks we will be off for spring break and going to a Spurs vs. Rockets game. I haven't ever been to an NBA game, so I am looking forward to it.

On Saturday, Mike and I are going to do a 5K walk for the start of the Houston Rodeo. We joined a team with Mike's work, so I'm looking forward to getting some exercise. I am also a team captain for Relay for Life with our school team. I was really nervous about being a team captain, but I have another teacher that said she would be a co-captain with me. We have some fundraisers planned at school, and I am raising as much money as possible. I think I have $250 dollars now, and my goal is $300. Our walk is April 17th, so I'll be 6 months by then. As long as my energy level stays up, I think I'll have a blast. Anyway, I wish I had more to share, but I really don't =(. Things are going well, and that is the important thing. Hope everyone has a safe and great week.

16 Week Visit

Well, yesterday was our 16 week visit with Dr. Smith. So far everything looks good and I gained 1 pound over the last month. That puts me at 5 pounds total. I don't know how much longer I'll be sharing my weight, but for now it isn't too bad. Dr. Smith seemed happy with the way things are going and we got to see a 4D picture of Bean! At first Bean was sucking its thumb and then she turned Bean around so we could see a good picture of the face. Bean was playing with his tongue, and opening it mouth. At one time Bean crinkled up its face and it was so cute.

Dr. Smith was looking at everything and said, "You do know what y'all are having, right?" At that moment I looked at Mike, but he said we don't want to know. So Dr. Smith said, "Then we better get away from that area." I figure she knows what we are having, but she was good at keeping the pictures off of the lower body. At times I wish we would know, but I also think it will be a great surprise at the end. So, all in all everything is fine and we go back for our 20 week visit in March. My sister will be here for that visit so she says she is going to look hard at the ultrasound. I can't believe we will be half way through our pregnancy in 4 weeks! It is flying by so quickly. Talk to you all again soon!

16 weeks

Well here is an updated picture. Baby Bean is growing more and more each day and I can tell. My sister was amazed on the difference from just two weeks ago when she was here. I'm still frustrated, because most of my maternity pants are still too big except for 3 pairs. So, I wear those and they are comfortable, but then I wear a couple of my regular pants. I still haven't worn any of my maternity shirts, because my other shirts still fit. There are a few that are too small in the chest area, so those will be put in the back of the closet! I mostly wear my yoga or wind pants on the weekends, because they fit great and are the most comfortable. I don't think my principal at school would be okay with me wearing them to work. We go back to the doctor on Tuesday for our 16th week visit, so I'll update again. I don't know if she will take some new pictures or not. We hope so, just so we can see Bean. Have a great Sunday.

Valentine's Day Surprise

Well Friday morning I woke up to get ready to go to work, and as I walked into the kitchen and turned on the lights I saw this beautiful bouquet of flowers. Mike and I had a talk about what we each wanted for Valentine's, and I told him he didn't need to get me flowers because they are so expensive. However, Mike had already ordered the flowers, so he picked them up on Thursday, hid them in the garage and set them out early Friday morning. How sweet! We also went out the eat with our friends Thursday night at Chuy's, and I can't wait to go back. It was delicious! My sister brought our dogs back Saturday morning, and it is great to have them back home. It has been way too quiet around here. So we went shopping at Old Navy on Saturday and ate a late lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings. That was delicious too! Mike has off tomorrow, but I am headed to a staff development. YEAH! Hope you all had a great weekend as well!

15 Weeks

Well tomorrow we will be 15 weeks and Bean will be the size of a large navel orange. I have a student at school that keeps me posted on how big Bean is right now. This student seems very interested in my pregnancy, and asks me questions everyday about it. Sometimes I am amused at his questions, and other days I tell him he needs to ask his mom. There are some things I'm not about to share with him.

I officially wear maternity clothes now. I can't seem to find any of my pants that feel comfortable enough to wear all day at work. However, I have been feeling much better. I can tell my energy level is finally back, because I'm not ready for a nap at 10:00 a.m. Other than that not much has changed lately. We traveled to Henderson this past weekend to help Mike's grandparents clean up their farm. It was nice being out in the country away from all the traffic and crazy sounds of the city. We had a really good time hanging out with our family and relaxing some, but it was nice getting into my bed last night.

Kathy, Mike's mom, asked me this weekend what theme we decided to use in Bean's room. We really haven't decided yet, but hopefully we can come to a decision soon. I am ready to start putting Bean's room together, but we still haven't bought any furniture. We still have plenty of time, and if I leave it up to Mike he'll be putting furniture together a couple of days before our due date. Just kidding! I won't let him procrastinate that long! Anyway, we go back for our 16 week visit next Tuesday, so I'll update after that. I'll be adding a new picture then also.

Visit to the ER

Well Monday turned out a little different than planned. I went to work as usual, but a pain that had started on Sunday in my lower abdominal area was getting worse by the minute. Everyone at work was saying I was just stretching, but something told me otherwise. I went back to class after PE and had just started teaching when a sharp pain tore through my right side. I called the office and told them I needed someone to watch my class. I got my kids working and met the school nurse outside of my portable. She took my blood pressure and fever and all of that good stuff, but was worried about the pain I was having. I called my doctor's office and found out that my doctor was at the hospital in surgery, but they recommended we go into the ER. The nurse was concerned I was going into pre-term labor or worse.

It seemed like Mike was there in seconds, because I didn't want to go by ambulance. Stubborn, I know! We got to the ER and after a while we were called back. The pain was much better by then, but it was still constant. They took half my blood and ran some tests that took over 2 hours to get back. It was very boring waiting and I was so hungry that I could have eaten my arm. After about 2 hours, Mike went to complain to the doctor and the nurse just happened to show up to take us to get our ultrasound. During the ultrasound, Mike said he could see the baby and the heartbeat. It has tiny arms and legs and was moving around. This helped calm me down, but I still didn't know what was causing the pain. After about 45 minutes the doctor came back in and said I have a cyst on my right ovary. I have had them before and should have recognized the pain, but I associated it with the baby, like most pregnant women would. The baby is healthy, with a heartbeat of 144 and weighing in at 103 grams! Mike said it is much bigger than it was 2 weeks ago.

So after a long day, we finally got a bite to eat, and picked up my car at work. I wanted to go back to work today, but after speaking with my principal, she convinced me otherwise. I was in some pain last night and again this morning, so I guess it was best. Plus I have 9 kids absent with the flu, so my room probably has all those germs in it. YIKES! So, I'll take it easy today, but hopefully be back at work tomorrow.

So, we are 14 weeks today! 182 days to go! Time is flying by, and before we know it we will have our baby here. Please continue to pray for us and our little Bean. Hopefully the cyst will dissolve and the pain will go away soon. If not I go back in 2 weeks to my regular doctor, unless something happens that I need to go sooner. I do know that I don't want to visit the hospital again unless I'm in labor! Mike agrees!

Pictures of our girls

Daddy Mike and his girls before they went to Elgin. They are both such Daddy's Girls! I don't know what Macie will do without her daddy for 2 weeks!

Sunday, Sunday....

Well the end of another short 2-day weekend is here, and we are all facing another week at work. It is going to be a busy week, plus next weekend we are going to Henderson to Mike's grandparent's farm. They need some help cleaning up after a storm went through and blew a bunch of tree limbs down. It should be fun seeing everyone and hanging out with the family. My sister came down to Spring yesterday and is leaving soon with my puppies. We decided they could go visit their Oma and Ol'Pop for two weeks. Deborah plans to bring them back on Valentine's Day. I know it is best, because they will have a good time and we won't have to worry about them next weekend. However, two weeks without my babies? It has been a while since they have been gone that long. =( But I know they will have a great time walking with Ol'Pop each day and hanging out with everyone. My dogs are such travelers!

I have had some pretty intense headaches the last few days, and I kept telling myself that if they don't get better I'm going to call the doctor. The Tylenol isn't even touching them. I might try getting my back adjusted to see if that helps. I know they are just hormonal headaches, but please I just got through with the morning sickness! On Thursday it was so bad, I thought I was going to have to leave work early. I could hardly focus on anything long enough to keep my kiddos busy. I felt sorry for them, because I begged them to whisper to me. Some of them are great troopers and hardly spoke, others....well...

I am still stretching some, and I finally gave in and measured my waistline. Not that I'm going to post it on here, but I have gained about 2 1/2 inches in my waist. My friends told me that one day I'll feel the stretching and the next day there is the bump. They weren't lying! Anyway I'm adjusting to my new body, and I find myself rubbing my tummy more and more. One of my students on Friday did make me smile by saying how skinny I still look. Then she added, "Well until you turn to the side." I had to laugh because kids say the craziest things! I'll keep everyone posted on how the headaches are going. Please keep me in your prayers, because there are days I want to bury my head.

And mom if your reading this....Take care of my babies for me! Love you!
